![]() I will also need to unsolder the speaker leads to the crossovers but need a proper desoldering sucking tool, my last one broke after a big clog (bought locally at Fry's during the first speaker recapping job in fall of '15 but broke while working on the Muffsy preamp earlier last year) when I tried to clear it. I may do the same with the SP-1700's too, but it'll require a bit different mounting technique due to the crossover circuit boards mounted on a molded plastic face plate, unlike the 3000's which look to be mounted on on a wooden board screwed in with nuts to the backside of the back panel held in with screws from the inside. I believe there are 5 caps on each board and I would love to replace the original spring clips with 5-way binding posts while I'm in there. So which types would you recommend for best sound and longevity? I'm about to put a parts list order together with Parts Express for some fresh caps for my Sansui SP-3000 4-way speakers from 1971 and saw that Parts Express carries crossover caps, both metalized polypropylene caps (more expensive) and film/foil crossover caps (less expensive)
